Excel Home Design 2021 Annual Review

Stepping out in 2021

Proving itself to be a more challenging year than we all hoped back when the pandemic first cast its long shadow on the world, 2021 confirmed that our home environment continues to be essential to our well-being.

Maximising space, light, the outdoors and technology are all critical themes for optimum home environments that benefit our souls, in addition to supporting our challenged modern lives.

With that in mind, we are incredibly proud and grateful to have experienced the most significant recognition of our work to date by the building industry, with our achievement of four Federation Of Master Builder Cymru Awards in 2021.

The successful projects are testimony to our ethos – “Designs For Living” and why our mission is essential to our success.

With 2021 providing many opportunities to innovate and evolve our service, here is our year in review.

The Federation of Master Builder Cymru Awards

Since 1999, the Master Builder Awards has been a flagship for high-quality building work, showcasing examples of fantastic craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and building excellence.

We had won Master Builder Awards before, but never this many in one competition and across so many categories. Let’s walk you through our Award Winning projects.

MEDIUM RENOVATION PROJECT WINNER – Llwyn Onn

Our house has undergone such a transformation and has now become our forever home. Russell and his team have been nothing short of professional, trustworthy and supportive from start to finish.

Never in our wildest dreams could we have envisaged a ‘home’ like this, but Excel have made it happen. Our fantastic new open plan space has created a new style of ‘living’ which we love.” – Nikki and Jason

This project was all about maximising space. This open-plan paradise, bathed in natural light, is a breath-taking renovation, thanks to the dual lantern roof windows. The project was a complete renovation that included a new Sunroom, kitchen, bathroom and a wrap-around double extension providing an abundance of space.

The sunroom contains three main living zones and a functional set of bi-fold doors that beckons visitors outside the patio space for true “In & Out Living”.

SMALL RENOVATION PROJECT WINNER – Pine Court

“We are so very pleased with the end result. It looks amazing! We can’t wait to make full use of the outside patio in the summer.” Sharon James

Pine Court

Initially planned as a kitchen renovation project, the brief expanded to include a redesigned balcony above, with easy access to the ground floor cooking facilities from the rear garden.

With beautiful scenery to enjoy in the garden, the development gave the customers further opportunities to appreciate nature whilst enjoying modern living.

The revamped balcony features a new floor covering, a glass and stainless-steel balustrade, and bespoke lighting to help set the mood for those dining al fresco.

KITCHEN PROJECT WINNER – Station Road

“Excel Home Design were different to everyone else. We did shop around but as soon as they came they gave us a clear vision of what we could have.” – Katrina Cross

This stunning kitchen design doubles as an entertainment space for the client’s friends and family, replete with clever storage options and made-to-measure units, all arranged around a central breakfast bar.

This focal point also boasts a bespoke canopy and hob cooking area, as well as a newly installed LED lighting system.

The kitchen was an essential zone for the customers who wanted a chic, modern look with the functionality to cook, entertain and congregate together, all in one area

BATHROOM PROJECT WINNER – Ivy House

Highly Commended – Building Company of The Year

We were also very pleased to have been highly commended in the category of “Building Company Of The Year.

Whilst we’d love to have won, being highly commended in this highly prestigious and extremely competitive category was still very pleasing.

Maximising Technology

Since the pandemic started, we have all learned to get more comfortable with technology.

From Zoom quizzes, Teams conferences, product demonstrations to a customer halfway across the world, technology-driven visualisation is now a vital part of the customer experience.

Having created homes for people from all professions, we have always been mindful that some people are naturally more visual than others.

Understanding the importance of providing all our customers with a detailed visual experience, we added an exciting enhancement to our service that will take you on a virtual walkthrough of your new home.

Throughout 2021, customers have really benefited from this technology which enables them to get a realistic view of their future home and identify any fine points that they feel need changing.

With HD clarity in 3D, customers can identify any changes to the plan atan early stage, which is highly beneficial to project timescale and budgets when compared to discovering these preferences once construction has started.

Take a look below at a few of our recent 2021 projects where our clients have utilised 3D visualisation to ensure their dream development is precisely what they could or couldn’t visualise.
