Annual Review 2020

Annual Review 2020

Against a backdrop of unprecedented adversity for so many people and businesses across the world, we consider ourselves fortunate enough to see 2020 as another successful year. Through the dedicated work of our team and support of our customers, we have reached new milestones in our evolution as a company and have continued to create “Designs For Living” throughout this difficult period.

Another Multi-Award Winning Year.

We are proud to have delivered several key projects this year including two Award Winning Sunrooms.

We were delighted to win the Caerphilly Council 2020 Award for “Best extension to an existing property”.

“Excel Home Design were different to everyone else. We did shop around but as soon as they came they gave us a clear vision of what we could have.” – Katrina Cross

As a complete renovation, the scope of the project included a bespoke Sunroom with a made-to-measure lantern feature, a loft conversion, a bespoke kitchen, bespoke bedroom and a patio area.

The Sunroom provided a significant amount of additional living space with easy access to the patio to comfortably top up on vitamin D throughout the year. The kitchen was an important zone for Alan and Katrina, who wanted a chic, modern look with the functionality to cook, entertain and congregate together all in one.

We were delighted to win the Rhondda Cynon Taff Council’s building award for “Best extension to an existing building” 2020.

“Our ‘house’ has undergone such a transformation and has now become our forever ‘home’. Russell and his team have been nothing short of professional, trustworthy and supportive from start to finish.
Never in our wildest dreams could we have envisaged a ‘home’ like this but Excel made it happen. Our fantastic new open plan space has created a new style of ‘living’ which we love.” – Nikki and Jason

The project was another complete renovation which included a Sunroom, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a two-storey extension to the side of the property to match the existing property and a new patio area.

The Sunroom, for which we have won the Award, was the key element of the development and one we are particularly proud of, both from a visual perspective and how it has given the family a stunning living space they can use all year round. The bi-folding doors provide a transition zone to the patio area, opening up the Sunroom for additional space for entertaining and gatherings, the extension provides true “In & Out Living”.

2020 has shown us the importance of a well-designed living environment that can improve the quality of our daily lives. Carefully designed living spaces, ergonomic functionality, media integration, sunlight and fresh air, have all come to the fore as lockdowns have made us spend more time indoors.

The Sunroom and kitchen project at Tyler Hendy was a real pleasure to create, maximising living space and enabling comfortable access to the garden to enjoy the great weather we experienced from April to July.

“We cannot thank Russell and his team enough for our kitchen/sunroom extension, completed in March 2020. We chose Excel to undertake the work as Russell understood our vision and gave us fantastic suggestions, based on his vast experience, on what would work best.

The work started on time and we couldn’t fault the team at Excel. They were friendly, professional and always turned up on time. We never needed to worry about coordinating tradesmen to carry out work, as Russell project managed the work from start to finish.

We are absolutely delighted with our extension and we cannot recommend the team at Excel enough.” – Mark Davies

Our Commercial Division has also had another busy year having recently completed a state-of-the-art extension for leading bespoke Jewellery company Diamond Centre Wales.

After completing a home renovation for the owners, we were engaged to design, manage and deliver the extension to their Merchant Quarters in Talbot Green. The two-story extension creates a space where the Diamond Centre will bring together blending, cutting-edge technology and the best of traditional craftsmanship.

This year, we were also delighted to upgrade our service by including Virtual Walkthroughs. Understanding the importance of providing a detailed visual experience, we have expanded our department to include a 3D Visualiser.

Complementing our existing visual services, featuring 2D plans and 3D elevated images, every project will now be rendered into a virtual video, enabling customers to virtually ‘walk’ through their dream home. It’s an exciting addition to our successful 8-Step process, which enables us to take our clients from concept through to creation.

Excel Home Design are longstanding members of the Federation of Master Builders [FMB], sharing their values of high-quality craftsmanship and vision for building excellence.

It was with great pleasure that our Director, Russell Everett has been made the Vice President of the FMB Cymru Wales. Russell is enjoying providing his expertise and sharing it with the FMB board and looks forward to helping them shape the landscape of construction in Wales.

2021 will hopefully be a year of new beginnings for us all. We are very excited to see what this New Year will bring, including some very big developments of our own!
