Designs for Living

We are delighted to present the first in our Designs For Living series

This was a stunning project to work on and, with many thanks to the feedback of our wonderful clients, one which has since seen Excel Home Design win the FMB Heavenly Builder Award (Wales).

The project included a split-level Sunroom extension and balcony that enable the family to enjoy and appreciate their home and garden in new ways. The appeal of this development is evidently apparent as it blends the historical with the contemporary for truly breathtaking visual impact.

What the Clients said:

We had plans drawn up 2011 to take down an existing wooden conservatory and to replace with a newly extended sunroom with rooftop terrace built across the rear of our property. We consulted many builders, but most of them felt the project was either too big for them or we had no confidence that they would be able to deliver our vision.

We came across Excel Home Design via a last chance internet search for local builders, and within 10 minutes of our first meeting with Russell Everett, we were immediately instilled with confidence.  Russell knew exactly what we were looking for and in his eyes this was relatively straightforward.

Within a few weeks of agreeing on the price the work started and we must say that our experience was fantastic. Their team of builders including Adam and Jamie were very professional, experienced craftsmen and extremely polite, which is unusual this day and age. Nothing was too much trouble for them and each night the site was left immaculate.

One of the challenges to build the new contemporary style sun-room was to blend it with the original 200-year-old property; their attention to detail was second to none. During the excavation for the footings, they came across a very large stone which was part of the original house foundations. Not wishing to disturb the 200-year-old foundations, they worked around the problem and incorporated it within the new structure. There was no hesitation or doubt in how they were going to achieve this.

The project was finished on time and within budget, with the build and finish far exceeding our expectations. We would have no hesitation in recommending Excel Home Design to anyone.
